Life after the Leap!
Over the last couple of months I’ve noticed two key shifts in my life coaching practice. The first is that I’ve started to attract people who have already made a leap of faith in the area of career, relationship, health, or travel. The second is that I’ve noticed that most post-leapers have a genuine desire to give, receive and take action in a healthy, inclusive way.
From a Life Force Energy perspective, it feels like the “me” vibe of Life Purpose exploration has shifted into the “we” vibe of Life Purpose community. To tie it in a bow, becoming has magically morphed into belonging. And I like it!
Aside: For those of you who are into Chakras, the Life Force Energy has shifted from the 3rd Chakra (self-to-self), 5th Chakra (expression) and 7th Chakra (connection-to-spirit) to the 4th Chakra (heart) and 7th Chakra (connection-to-spirit). If you are not familiar with Chakras, please click here.
To support this exciting energy shift, Soul Nudge Creates! ezine is adding a new segment focusing on heart-centered groups (hey, perhaps you’ll join one!), launching a Soul Nudge Creates! on-line community and moving to a more interactive format using a combination of online print and audio.
Let’s keep the positive energy growing, glowing and flowing!

PS – Check out this month’s Podcast with Newfoundland’s Shelly Monahan and learn about her exotic, soulful and liberating 10-months in Argentina. Ole!

| Set Your Life In Motion! Interview with Terry Smith |
Interviewed by Mildred Lynn | Fall 2007 |

Terry Smith |
Terry Smith is the President of ICON Communications, Sydney, Nova Scotia. What's exhilarating about Terry is that he listened to his heart to develop a transformative “butterfly branding process” for his marketing company and clients. In addition, Terry was instrumental in creating the philanthropic initiative, Hugs for Haitian Kids. So, how does this vision-oriented guy successfully integrate personal and business inspiration? Let’s ask Terry. |
|
When did you have your SoulNudge? |
| I've experienced more than one SoulNudge, but the most recent was this past November, travelling back to Canada from a trip to Ireland. I was on an overseas flight and just moments before I had finished the book Inspiration, Your Ultimate Calling by Wayne Dyer. I purchased the book for the sole reason that there was a photo of Wayne on the front cover with a butterfly in his hand. The butterfly is one of my animal totems and has become vital in my life, as it is a symbol of transformation. Near the end of the book, Wayne talked about an amazing experience he had with a butterfly, which was very similar to an experience I had with a butterfly a few months earlier. My SoulNudge experience on the plane was the culmination of an incredible string of synchronicity surrounding butterflies. |
What life lesson did you learn? |
| A good friend of mine had told me in April 2006 that I was going through a year of transformation and she was right on the money! When I experienced the SoulNudge, more than going through a personal transformation, I knew that the process of transformation was at the core of my life's purpose. In my marketing business at ICON, we recently developed a 'butterfly branding process', which applies spiritual principles to the branding process to help our clients transform. As a singer-songwriter, the messages in my songs have shifted toward conveying a message of transformation to the audience. And through it all, butterflies have become a personal symbol for me…I have them everywhere around me and I love it! |
What life lesson would you like to share with others? |
| An important lesson that I learned is that you have to pay attention to spiritual messages you receive and follow them with your heart. Prior to my friend telling me that I was going through a transformation, I may have dismissed the butterfly occurrences as coincidence and would have missed the message. However, by paying attention and following, butterflies have led me down a path of personal discovery. |
What resources help you live your passion or dream? |
| I am inspired and humbled by the teachings of Jesus and so I would have to say that the Bible is my greatest resource. I take great strength from the line, "Even the least of you can do all that I have done and even greater things." To continue my learning, I take part in a weekly discussion group to discuss spiritual issues and I attend a very hip non-denominational Christian church with a strong mission to transform our community. I also subscribe to a fabulous podcast from Mars Hill Bible Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which can be accessed through the iTunes podcast directory.
Music is also a huge resource for me, particularly high-energy songs that immediately lift my spirits. I love to play "Beautiful Day" by U2 on my way to work and sing it at the top of my lungs. I might get strange looks from the other drivers, but it pumps me up for the day!

What is it about life that takes your breath away? |
| Every day is brand new and teeming with potential. No matter how I've perceived myself in the past, life provides a blank slate everyday to map out a new, positive direction. |

Shelly Monahan |
Newfoundland’s Shelly Monahan bravely stepped away from a secure life in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to rediscover her “vibrant self” in exotic Argentina. So, how did a career-driven gal like Shelly shift gears to follow her passion? What did she discover about herself, about life and about adventure? Let’s ask Shelly. Podcast |
|
When did you have your SoulNudge? |
| I have had several ‘elbows’ over the past number of years that have caused me to either change what I do or where I live. However, having the animal totem of zebra, my patterns followed me wherever I went. So the change was very much a surface one. My real SoulNudge came in November 2005 when I went to Buenos Aires, Argentina for a two-week holiday. I fell in love with the city and felt like my heart and soul belonged there. So in September 2006 I left Canada behind and started a 10-month journey in Argentina. I joyfully lived a new culture, language and continent and I loved every minute of it. |
What resources helped you live your dream? |
| The support of good friends and family who understood my need to change encouraged me along my path. I developed a beautiful network of friends in Argentina who helped me discover ‘the real Shelly’ and brought out things in my true self that I never knew existed, or had ignored until now. Over the past couple of years I have come to understand that the universe – nature, spirituality, humanity, intuition – has many gifts to share. I trusted that Argentina was where I was supposed to be, since the universe had given me so many signs. |
What life lesson would you like to share with others? |
| Your current path does not have to be the one you choose to walk forever. I believe that life is a long journey made up of interesting roads, routes and trails. Learn which ones enrich you, help you grow and make you feel alive. And know when you’ve reached the end and need to travel another – there are so many others! When I was in Argentina I discovered that I love new things coming into my life. I would take weekend trips with friends to discover new towns, meet new people for a coffee, or buy fresh flowers every week. Find out what feeds your body and soul. |
What do you feel is your life's mission? |
| To continue to learn more about me and to create a structure that will allow me to live what I am learning. It is funny because I can see my life evolving into something special and unique because I am doing it consciously. The change is not always comfortable and it is not instantaneous since it means recognizing and putting aside years of self-patterning, socially acceptable norms and how people expect to see me. Taking a leap of faith in yourself is a very powerful thing. |
What is it about life that takes your breath away? |
| It is the human connection of opening up to someone by sharing a hope, dream or life challenge and discovering the other person is currently going through the same thing. There is an instant bond of friendship and trust that makes you feel you are in the right place, at the right time and with the right person. |
