Soul Nudge Editorial

What in the world is a SoulNudge?

We all experience a “SoulNudge” at some point, I’m sure of it. A SoulNudge is a mind-spirit experience that whips you around, grabs your ankles and sends you, and your life, reeling like a shot-put at the Scottish Highland Games. Here’s my SoulNudge experience.

After moving to California, I thought that my life was on track. All was grand, until one day at a meeting. Sitting there, poised and alert, I suddenly became aware that I was at the wrong table, with the wrong people, talking about the wrong things. This was not where my work was to be done; not where my highest contribution could be made, and not where my fulfillment would be realized. (Gasp!).

Did I question this message? No. For some reason, I accepted it as truth and decided at that moment to beam out of high tech to pursue … oops, I didn’t exactly know … and I was going anyway! That, my friend, was a 100%, bona fide SoulNudge.

SoulNudge characteristics: Alert and paying attention; sudden, dazzling clarity; life altering choice; and a strong sense of “knowing”.

Following a SoulNudge takes courage, trust and a good sense of humor (because you will laugh at yourself a lot!). That’s what this e-zine is about. Our goal is to share insights, resources and inspiration from fascinating people (like you) who have followed their heart's passion to successfully apply their abilities to their life’s work. Enjoy!

Set Your Dreams In Motion! Interview with Lesley Mattos
Interviewed by Mildred Lynn | 3 Jan 2005
Lesley is the President and Founder of Adesso Albums headquartered in San Francisco, CA and the mother of four. After a 25 year career in which she provided finance, treasury, investor relations and executive communications guidance to some of Silicon Valley's most visible CEOs and CFOs, she is currently living her dream of helping the world capture the NOW in life’s important moments. Why would a woman making a six-figure salary choose to leave her high profile position with Cisco Systems to create a product that used no 21st Century technology? We asked Lesley.
When did you have your SoulNudge?
I was getting SoulNudges throughout my 25 year career in Silicon Valley---each one stronger than the next. Finally, in January 2001, I could no longer ignore the fact that although I had a successful career, I was not living the life that I was put here to live. A trip to Italy a few months later, and immersion into a lifestyle that is all about ‘living life’, confirmed my decision was the right one.
What resources helped you live your dream?
Books and tapes started appearing from a variety of sources – people that worked for me, with me, even my personal trainer – and opened my mind to the possibility of having a more fulfilling life than I had found in the corporate world. Who Moved My Cheese, The Four Agreements, The Seven Laws of Spiritual Success, The Artists’ Way and anything by Wayne Dyer were the beginning of what is now a library of resources.
What life lesson did you learn?
I learned to listen to myself, my intuition, my soul. I learned to live my life by doing what is right for me and mostly, I learned to live in the present. That’s what I’d like my children to remember about their mom – that she did what was right for her, regardless of popular opinion, that she followed her dream, though others may have scoffed at it, and above all, that she learned to enjoy life in the moment.
Favorite quote? “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled… And that has made all the difference.” - Robert Frost
